Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitski has torn a tendon in his left quadriceps, and is likely out 6 weeks or until the All-Star Break. This is a really tough break for the NL Champions; 29-year old Clint Barmes, who had a pretty good rookie year in 2005 at short, immediately becomes an intriguing pickup.

The Yankees’ Phil Hughes discovered that he has a stress fracture in one of his ribs, and will be out of action for at least two months. For those of you who hadn’t given up on him for this season, you might as well drop him now. Darrell Rasner is expected to be called up to make a spot start, but the Yankees may have to make a move or else transition Joba Chamberlain to the rotation earlier than expected. Keep your eye on this situation.
