The Yankees now have reason to hate interleague play. Starter Chien-Ming Wang injured his foot while running the bases (of all things) in a 13-0 rout on Sunday, and he has gone on the DL for a long time. Now it appears that his season could potentially be over; The Disabled List Informer has the details. Considering how the rotation is already hanging by a thread, this could mean a big move by New York by the deadline.

While Albert Pujols has not suffered much from that problem elbow this season, his calf has been wreaking some havoc lately. He’s hit the DL, and it looks like the plan is to play Chris Duncan at first while he’s out.

J.J. Putz hurt his elbow this weekend and was placed on the DL, and Brandon Morrow looks to pick up the saves in his absence.

Victor Martinez admitted to playing through elbow pain, and will miss 6-8 weeks after surgery. You should be looking into replacements like Chris Snyder, Chris Ianetta and Dioner Navarro. If by some chance Ryan Doumit is still unclaimed in your league, it’ll actually be an upgrade.

Fernando Rodney and Joel Zumaya are both being activated this week, and could completely transform the Tigers’ weak bullpen, if they are both healthy. Zumaya is next in line for the closer job, should Todd Jones finally keel over.

Rafael Soriano is back on the DL. Time to give up on him for this season, but it’s not easy to pick out who to add in that Atlanta bullpen. It seems Manny Acosta will continue to be the man for now, but I fully expect that to change; keep monitoring this situation if you need a closer.
